nexttrain is a simple train departure app for UK rail. If something isn't working as expected, this page should help.
Common Questions
- Why are no departures showing?
- Check your internet connection and try pulling down to refresh. If the issue persists, National Rail systems may be temporarily unavailable.
- How do I add or change routes?
- Tap the route name at the top to switch routes or add one. Tap “Manage Routes” at the bottom to add, edit, reorder, or delete saved routes. The swap button remembers direction separately for each route.
- Why does a train show as delayed with no expected time?
- Sometimes National Rail reports a general delay without a specific estimated time. The app shows “Delayed” until an updated time is provided.
- The widget isn't updating
- Open the app to refresh the data. You can long-press a widget and choose “Edit Widget” to follow the app's current route or pin a particular saved route. iOS limits how often widgets can update in the background.
