Privacy Policy
Last updated July 2026
nexttrain is a train departure board app that shows live UK rail departures. Your privacy matters — this app is designed to collect as little data as possible.
Data Collection
nexttrain does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
- No account required — there is no sign-up or login
- No analytics or tracking — no usage data is sent to any server
- No advertising — no ad networks or data brokers
- No location data — station selection is manual, not GPS-based
Data Stored on Your Device
The native iOS app stores your saved routes, their directions, the currently selected route, preferred time display, temporary caches of recent departures, and per-route widget boards locally on your device and in its private widget App Group. Apart from the selected station codes sent for each departure request as described below, this local data is not uploaded. It is deleted when you uninstall the app.
Third-Party Services
The app sends the selected origin and destination station codes to the NextTrain service, which requests live departure data from the National Rail Enquiries API. Requests do not include an account, advertising identifier, precise location, or other personal information.
Calendar Access
If you choose Add to Calendar, the app asks for permission and writes that departure to your selected calendar. This is user-initiated and no calendar data is uploaded to NextTrain.
Children's Privacy
nexttrain does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
